See you there!
Good news folks! DC Flea has re-opened its doors, and is looking better than ever. If you haven’t heard, Montserrat House on 9th and V Street NW (across the street from 930 Club) has become home to the most diverse fashion collective in DC. Now, throughout the end of December, this glorious pop-up shop will offer threads, shoes, accessories and knick knacks by a rotating selection of vendors for all your holiday shopping needs!
But this is no ordinary flea. On any given night (or day for that matter) you can expect an impromptu party. With some of the best local DJ’s stopping through to bless the one’s and two’s, live musical performances and spirit sponsored events, DC Flea brings new meaning to your vintage shopping experience. Laides, grab your friends and go play dress-up, or bring your guy; you can shop for the both of you, and they will pacify him with a beer or shot of whiskey. Trust me, you too will love DC Flea!

-Surely something really really embarrassing has happen in the last 48hrs…
After disgracing our title of economic superpower, relinquishing our efforts in education and succumbing to the ailments of pop-culture, I can now say, with unwavering conviction, America has hit an all time low with this one- As the global economy continues to resemble a battle ground complete with landmines and quicksand, we have once again fallen far behind in perhaps the largest staple to ever exist in American history; the pinnacle of enterprise, McDonald’s.
That’s right folks- even our beloved McDonald’s has lost it’s edge. I never dreamed I’d see the day another nation would out do McDonald’s the way America does McDonald’s until this. Just in time for the 2012 Olympics, McDonald’s all across the UKis rolling out a new uniform inspired by the mod sixties and television show Mad Men. Not only will McDonald’s employees in the UK be much more fashionable in their ‘mustard’ accents and ‘McCheck’ plaid shirts, designers have committed to sustainability with an e-friendly closed loop textile process. Looks like they’re loving it!
And to make matters worst, check out these much hotter variants of Ronald McDonald in Japan. I wonder if Rhonda McDonald is paid as much as Ronald McDonald over there…??
For anyone else thinking of making France a destination this summer, try Granville in the Normandy region of France as one of your stops! And while you’re there, visit the Christian Dior Museum…
Stars in Dior, is a new book and exhibition to show at the Christian Dior Museum, Granville from May 12 to September 23. The museum is actually Dior’s childhood home; a 19th century villa overlooking the Channel Islands, and features three levels of Dior in all it’s grandeur.
Prosecco, please!
And we’re back!! Did you miss us…?? Of course, you did-
And, to accompany the rejuvenation of H.Darling, just in time for Spring, we share with you the birth of SHOESCRIBE.COM, “…a virtual platform for a unique and interesting medley of shoes and shoe-related content meant to entertain and inspire.”
-And that, it does! This mock-wedge heel is definitely a favorite! Haven’t seen much of it since that pair of Giuseppe’s I had eaten alive by the streets of Manhattan… but, I digress- Less daunting than shopstyle; more fancy than Zappos; Shoescribe offers a few relatively affordable styles mixed in with a plethora of inspirational, “wish list” items. With over one-thousand styles to chose from, I love this site most for creating an accessible marketplace for lesser recognized, yet equally fabulous designers. I support this message.
Can’t wait until Fall comes back around; curious to see how their boot collection develops…
And speaking of collaborations, MISSONI has joined in partnership with Century Properties to design it’s first ever residential building to be completed 2015. The project will consist of luxury condo’s located in the Philippines, and will start at $100k.
In addition to the ‘Missoni Home’ collection, and ‘Missoni for Target,’ they have also imposed their imaginative, fantasy-like design on two hotel properties; one located in Kuwait, the otherEdinburgh:
I love their work! However, it’ll be interesting to see what adaptations are made to make the place more livable. All these colors and patterns are fun short-term, but I imagine a permanent headache setting in after 6-9 months.
Maserati and luxury brand, Fendi have joined forces to design this Special Edition Maserati GranCabrio Fendi.
“A special logo [was designed] for the collaboration, merging the house’s own double “F” emblem with Maserati’s trident symbol. The car’s interior is lined with the soft leather used in Fendi’s Selleria line, both the dashboard wood trim and headrests are covered in the label’s signature yellow, and the “F” logo stitched onto the seats.”
The Maserati GranCabrio Fendi sports car also features “a unique three-layered body color named Grigio Fiamma Fendi, which is a dark grey with an iridescent golden finish on the surface.”
This delicious piece of work is scheduled to make it’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September.
