Ladies and Gentleman, save the date for Fashion’s Night Out; –September 8, 2011 marks the biggest fashion event in history! The third annual, shopping extravaganza is fast approaching; and promises to be the biggest and best yet.
For those unfamiliar with the affair, -we forgive you. Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is not only an important day for retailers and fashion fanatics around the globe, but a glorious response to the decline in consumerism during recent difficult economic times. This artsy fartsy smartsy initiative, sponsored by Vogue, was established in New York in 2009. It has since spread to over 15 countries, including hundreds of cities world-wide. From Manhattan to Milan, Atlanta to Australia, the after-hours shopping event draws quite the crowd appealing to fashion, beauty and art enthusiast of all kind.
I had the pleasure of participating in the first FNO event in LA. After shop hopping on Beverly and Robertson boulevards, we made a cameo at Trina Turk on 3rd Street and ended the night at Fred Segal on Melrose; and boy, was THAT a party! -Imagine a bar crawl so swanky, there are no bars; just fabulous clothes shoes and accessories; and interesting people with similar interest, networking and celebrating one of the most extraordinary art forms of our time!!! Can you tell, we’re excited?
This year, H. Darling is attending New York’s FNO for the first time. The list of participating stores was just released today, so join me in planning your itinerary in your own local city here: http://www.fashionsnightout.com/fno So far on our list: Bergdorf Goodman for a Vicky Tiel Book signing; (See previous post for more info: https://hdarling.wordpress.com/2011/08/04/the-iconic-fashion-of-vicky-tiel/) and George Esquivel at W New York Times Square for a photography exhibit hosted by Vogue Photography Director, Ivan Shaw.
